No, this isn't a cooking site.
You searched for tofu and potatoes. You got a website about metaphors.
Somewhere out there is a person who wanted dinner and ended up reading about Civil War prison camps. This page is for them, and now also for you.
It would be rude to send anybody away hungry. So, against our better judgement, and with no expertise whatsoever: the actual tofu and potatoes.
One tray. Crispy tofu & potatoes.
- Heat the oven to 220°C / 425°F. Cut 400g potatoes into 2cm chunks. Press a 400g block of firm tofu dry and tear it into rough pieces with your hands. Torn edges crisp better than cut ones, which is the only fact on this page we can prove.
- Toss both on a tray with 3 tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp cornflour, 1 tsp smoked paprika, salt and pepper. Spread them out. Crowding is what makes things soggy, in a tray and in a sentence.
- Roast 25 minutes. Turn everything. Roast another 10 to 15, until the potatoes give and the tofu is golden at the edges. Do not stand there opening the oven. We can tell.
- Finish with lemon, and whatever green thing has been in the fridge long enough to feel guilty about.
Leftovers are better the next day. So is most writing.
Right. Back to the phrases.
